As you know Elite Summer Nationals (ESN) has been going on since 2005 and has been growing every year. Throughout the years we’ve had IASCA, USACi, MECA, DB DRAG, and IDBL attend at the show. Due to the rising interest in MECA and fewer entries in other organizations we have made the decision to focus on only one organization this year. The organization of choice is MECA. MECA has been around since 1999. Their grass roots way of doing shows follows that of many show organizers and retailers. I have been on the show circuit since 1989 and a retailer since 1991, in other words I’ve been around the block. I’ve been on the board of some of the other organizations listed. MECA truly understands what the competitor wants and will do what it takes within reason to accomplish those wants. From the 3 years of learning what MECA is about it just makes sense! If you want to do SQ then do SQ, if you want to do SPL then do SPL, if you want to do Install than do Install or you can do them all that’s the beauty behind MECA.
At the 2008 MECA Finals a new class was introduced and tested, two seat (SQ2). Not only was this class a success it was the largest of the SQ format at Finals. Since I've been involved I feel that this has been the missing link in MECA and now its reality. I'm really excited about SQ2, I'm from the "Old School" were doing it from both seats was the only option with no compromise. Now with the SQ2 format in place all forms of competition are available. All MECA SQ2 competitors you only have to compete at two SQ2 Sound Competition (3X) to qualify for State Championship or Finals.
I'm sure everyone is wondering about the Top 30 Round? With the decision of only having one sound organization this allows me to put more focus on the Top 30 round, now named Sound Challange. Every year at ESN the "Top 10" trophies have been the talk of the show! 40lbs. plus, stainless steel etc...and a different design every year, no bowling trophy for this event! I will be working on getting some of the highest trained judges in the industry. I also will be trying to put money together for the winners. This would only happened if Manufactures step up to the plate, the ones that do will be recognized for their efforts. We spend 10 months out of the year planning for this event.
